Babysitting 101 - Your First Aid Kit

 Hi everyone,

Amelia here with your second Babysitting 101. Today’s topic will be making your babysitters first aid kit.

It is very important to have at least Band-Aids, gauze, medical gloves, and maybe even more when you are going to babysit kids. Kids get hurt. Everyone has ever been around them knows this, that they get hyper and they jump and they don’t pay attention to what they’re jumping onto. So without further ado, let’s get started!

1. So first, of course, you want to have bandaids. Nothing fancy, just a few different sizes of Band-Aids in a Ziploc bag or a small container.

2. Next, it’s good if you have some sort of cleaning wipe in case you don’t have access to warm water from a sink.

3. Then you should add some gauze. You can get a roll at almost any store, or if you prefer, you can buy squares of gauze, too. Add some small scissors so you can cut the gauze, and we suggest keeping it in a ziplock bag to keep it clean and organized.

4. If you’re going to be dressing wounds like a pro, you’ll need some medical gloves. Lots of germs are transmitted through blood, so you don’t want to get that on your hands. Keep these in a plastic bag as well so that they stay clean.

5. Next you might want some triangle sling/tie on bandages. These can be used to make a small sling, secure gauze, etc. Keep these in a plastic bag to keep them clean.

6. A small first-aid booklet. These will have some emergency information on dressing wounds, calling 9-1-1, etc.

7. Hand sanitizer. This is really important, because your hands need to be clean to deal with blood, before and after.

8. If you are trained for rescue breathing, CPR, or another emergency breathing treatment, then you will want a breathing mask to keep you and the person you’re helping safe from germs and spittle.

I hope this helped you to build your first aid kit like a pro,

Amelia
