Hamilton Is Coming To Disney+

Hi! If you’re anything like us here at LLR, you love the Hamilton soundtrack, but have no hope of going to see it anytime in the foreseeable future. But now, it’s coming to Disney+! Granted, it’s not going to be there until July 3rd, but it’s still something to look forward to! Here are some links to information about this ~exciting~ news: Wall Street Journal CNN Article Buzzfeed This is a fairly big deal for a few reasons: 1. Tickets to Hamilton are rare and expensive 2. Everyone has been wanting this to happen and 3. HAMILTON! I MEAN, COME ON! But of course there is a problem: not everyone has Disney+, and you can’t exactly get together with a friend. So here are some easy ideas: 1. If you or a friend has Disney+, you can do a video meeting (zoom, google meet, etc. Google Meet works the best depending on your browser), and screen cast the movie. 2. A lot can change in a month! Maybe you will be able to go to a friend’s house! 3. Bring your TV outside, and sit 6

How To Make A Bored Vase/Jar

Image
Hi everyone, Amelia here. If you’re anything like me, you/your kids are dying of boredom right about now. A good solution is to make a bored jar/vase. Me and Naomi both made one for our families and they are a great antidote to the “I’m bored” disease. Here are the instructions: 1. Materials: paper, pen, vase/jar 2. Type/write up your ideas to solve boredom; the more ideas, the better (scavenger hunt, art, etc. Just Google ‘things to do when I’m bored’ and you’re covered) 3. Print them out (if you typed them) and cut them out 4. Put them in the jar/vase and you’re set! Optional: 5. Make a label for the outside 6. Write down some art prompts and put them in/on the jar/vase There you have it! A 5-minute boredom buster! Have fun with it! Keep living life random, Amelia

DIY Painted Rock Art

Image
Hello! Naomi here! Today I drew out of my boredom buster jar and I wanted to share what I drew out. They are painted rock ‘sculptures’. I call them sculptures because I hot glue gunned them to each other to make a mini statue type thing. I just found fairly flat, smooth rocks in my landscaping and painted them the way I liked it. Then you can get a shiny spray finish so that if you want them to decorate your garden, harsh weather won’t wash it away or ruin it. Start with a light coat of paint on one size and leave it to dry. Once it is fully dry, paint the other side, leaving the wet side up  to dry. Then add details with a Sharpie  or with a super fine paint brush. Hot glue smaller pieces and the fully dried / detailed rocks together the way you want it. Spray with shiny top coat to give it a shiny finish ( This will do the trick ) Decorate your garden, landscape or put the mini sculptures in pots to be decorations around the house. Ta - Da! Da! A succulent garden And

Behind The Scenes of Live Life Random

Hello, everybody! It’s Naomi again and today I am going to give you a behind the scenes look at our blog; Live Life Random. Amelia and I (the writers) love separately and we are middle school age. Since quarantine we have been posting a lot more to keep ourselves busy. It usually goes down somewhat like this: Naomi: On Fridays I like to sit down at our dining table and choose a topic off of my running list of blog post ideas and start writing. I can schedule for when I want them to be published, but I mainly like to end the week with a blog post. I usually have some music going while I’m writing to give me some flow (I like Hanging Tree from Hunger Games, Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift, and the Hamilton soundtrack). I usually have a cup of water or milk next to me, although on rainy days I like to cozy up on the couch with some hot cocoa. I love crafting and writing. Reading is my favorite quarantine hobby and I will often write about my favorite books; The Hunger Games Trilogy, Th

The Hunger Games Movie Review

Image
*SPOILER ALERT* Hello, readers! Naomi here. I just watched The (first) Hunger Games movie and I am already looking forward to seeing the Catching Fire Movie. Seeing as the new Hunger Games book came out 5.19.20, I thought to do a Hunger Games Movie review. Now, let’s get started. Amelia here. I watched the movie after Naomi, so I will also be adding some input in this blackberry color.  On practically the first scene, I noticed this: This is supposedly Buttercup, who, in the books is distinctively described as an ugly tabby cat, so I’m not sure what this cat is doing here. The director got lots of complaints about this detail including from Suzanne Collins to get a new kitty for Catching Fire and Mockingjay parts 1 and 2. I didn’t really care about Buttercup, because the scene is so short. This scene did feel a little fake, but overall I didn’t really mind it because the rest of the movie was so good. Ah, much better... Part of what I liked about the movies is t

How To Knit A Scarf For Beginners

Hi all! Amelia here. I have recently started to knit, and I figured that I could share the best tutorials that I found. So here goes! The first website I used is on  WikiHow . It tells you how to knit a scarf, without any of the specific instructions (like how to cast on and off). Then I used  Simple Knitting . This link shows you to single cast on with in-depth step-by-step instructions. The next site I used was  Crafts Tutsplus , and  Simple Knitting . These show how to do a simple knit stitch. This video also describes it perfectly:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24lR2IRS57A I hope these step-by-step instructions help you to knit a beautiful scarf! Stay sane! -Amelia

The Very Best Scrambled Eggs

Image
Hello, Everyone! Today we will be making the best scrambled eggs to exist on this earth. Ingredients: 2 eggs (per serving) Salt and Pepper to taste Cheese Optional: Milk Ham/turkey  1. Before we get to the eggs, pre grate some cheddar cheese as a most delicious topping.  2 . Now what you want to do is crack some eggs. I would say 2 per person is good unless you have a VERY big appetite. I really like eggs from farms and places like that - I think they have a more distinguished taste, however I know not everyone has access to those, so all eggs work. 3. Then you want to blend them and make sure to break the yolk with a whisk of a fork Thank you   Irish American Mom  for the picture (Also, you can add some milk for extra fluff) 4. Add salt and pepper to taste and mix in well.  5. Lightly butter a pan that is big enough to fit all of your eggs. 6. Turn on stove cooktop  and pour in egg mixture. Use a rubber spatula to pull edges in like this picture f

The Bononi Ornament Font - What Is It?

Image
Hi everyone, Amelia here! Some of you may have seen a very odd font when sending emails on a apple device. Well, when I saw this, I was obviously very curious. It didn’t have any resemblance to any letters I had ever seen, and I could only find this font in the Gmail app. So I translated the title: I found that they are called the Bodoni Ornaments.  Obviously curious, I Googled it. Here’s what I found: Websites used:  Lino Type , Wikipedia “   Giambattista Bodoni (1740-1813) was called the King of Printers; he was a prolific type designer, a masterful engraver of punches and the most widely admired printer of his time. His books and typefaces were created during the 45 years he was the director of the fine press and publishing house of the Duke of Parma in Italy. He produced the best of what are known as modern" style types, basing them on the finest writing of his time. Modern types represented the ultimate typographic development of the late eighteenth and ea

The Hunger Games: Tributes *spoiler alert* *only first book here* Ok, by now you know that we are obsessed with the Hunger Games. I believe that is the best book in the world, Amelia not so much, but she still loves it. Quick Summary of the book before we get started: In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps up to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before, and survival for her is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender, but to win she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanit

Facts About The Coronavirus

Hey all, Amelia here. So far, we haven't written anything on the coronavirus. We obviously don't know all the facts and if we did, those facts would undoubtedly change within the week. So I'm going to give you the base facts. If you want more facts, the reliable websites we use  https://morgridge.org ,  cdc.gov , and  coronavirus.jhu.edu . The coronavirus receives its name from the crown-shaped cell that is seen when the virus is viewed by a very strong microscope. As for  COVID-19; ‘CO’ stands for ‘corona' (not Colorado); ‘VI’ for ‘virus'; ‘D’ stands for disease; and lastly, '19' refers to the year 2019 when the virus was identified. COVID-19 is also referred to as 'a novel coronavirus'. This simply means that this strand virus is new, or previously unidentified. There are many different strands of the coronavirus, so this one that is causing our pandemic is just one. The coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan, China. The first infectio

Mini Mug Cakes - A 5 Minute Recipe

Image
Naomi here! I really liked posting about my cookies, so today I am going to share my mini chocolate cake in a mug recipe. This recipe is super easy and it only has to be microwaved, not even baked! This super easy treat will make for a super fun, yummy dessert that can be topped with whipped cream or go alongside a scoop of ice cream. It only takes 5 minutes to whip up a few for the family. Let’s get baking! Ingredients: 1 oz of chocolate chips 2 tbs of sugar 1 tbs of flour  1 tbs of butter 1/2 an egg Steps: First, put the butter and chocolate chips in a coffee mug and microwave for 45 seconds. Then, stir until all melted and add sugar. Next, pour in the 1/2 of the egg and stir. Mix in flour and stir until smooth. Microwave for 1 minute and let cool before eating. I like to make two at a time so I can use the whole egg. Enjoy and top with sprinkles, whipped cream or ice cream! These mini cakes can be quite festive using different flavors, colors
