The website I ordered from: https://matchymatchysets.com/

Color: Mint (but looks more teal/bluish)

Size: Full Size Set in Jump Cut

When I ordered: February 2nd, 2022

My overall experience: 4.5/5

What I received: Saddle Pad with single twist cord, Light protection Tendon and Fetlock Boots, Ear Bonnet with Single Twist Cord

——————————————

1. THE SADDLE PAD

The saddle pad is super nice, high quality, and thick! It is the perfect size for Dot and I, doesn’t slip at all, had really nice high quality billet straps & girth straps, and is overall just super attractive.

I got the jump cut, and it’s the perfect thickness. I was worried it would be cheap thin cotton but it’s definitely not.

I couldn’t really capture it in a picture, but it’s even thicker than my nice Dover pad! Might get a bit hot in summer, but for the winter it’s lovely! There’s a small rip you can see details of further down 👇

For reference, my saddle is a 17.5 with a forward flap, and the saddle pad had room to spare for a larger saddle/horse.

2. THE BOOTS

The boots came very flat, so I wrapped them around a water bottle to help free them up. I really don’t have great pictures of the boots, because by the time I remembered to take photos I had already wrapped them around the water bottle 😅

There are front and back tendon/fetlock boots.

And I didn’t lesson in them, because they are a little to thin and light to jump anything over 18”. I definitely will use them for flatting though!

They are an interesting material, not plastic like the jump boots I use now. They have very good elastic, so I think they’ll be able to fit larger/ fluffier horses. I’ll come back and update this section after I use them..

3. THE EAR BONNET

I could not wait to try the color on Dot, so I ran out to the pasture the second I got to the barn and tried it on. She didn’t understand why I didn’t have any food… but I loved the color immediately!

And, just for fun, I tried it on Luna too :)
The ear holes look small, but are nice and stretchy to fit Dot’s big fluffy ears.

The ears are a really nice material, and definitely are very blue compared to everything else. I really loved the bright teal color!

The ear bonnet has a really nice longer top for the bonnet. It is helpful because it doesn’t slide out from under the bridle like other ear nets I’ve used.

The ear bonnet is the normal crocheted material, and is a really good, thin yarn and very well knit. There are nice little holes and stitches done to make it look more decorative as well!

I think it will fit most sizes of horse, as Dot has a pretty good sized head and it definitely could have fit a much larger horse, and a smaller one as well :)

Here’s the whole thing, you can see how adorable it is!!

And last, but not least, the cute and stylish black lining! It matched the saddle pad and is very well made and adds a perfect adorable little touch!

So, overall I am happy with my order. But I do have a few critiques..

1. I thought my set was coming with the fur lined bell boots, because when I ordered it, the website said it would. But later when I looked they had added that the set didn’t come with the bell boots. Since I got it on sale I am not particularly upset.

2. There was a bit of damage to the saddle pad. It’s not any issue, I don’t think it impacts the use, I am just a bit disappointed. The girth strap on one side has some sort of rip on it that I’ll have to cut off.

3. Obviously the set took FOREVER to arrive… it’s not a huge deal, mostly because of COVID.

4. The cut on the saddle pad is really weird. If you don’t get it placed just right under the saddle, it folds out and you have “wings”. It is probably built more for higher withered, thinner horses.

5. The ear bonnet folds up in a weird way behind the bridle sometimes, and it really bothers Dot. She doesn’t seem to like this ear bonnet as much as other ones we’ve used.

My overall opinion:

I really like this set. It super bright, stylish, cute, and fun. It fits Dot well. But, I would say it’s not worth the $142 USD that the sets cost unless you’re planning on using it for competitions only. Since I got mine on sale for $120 USD, I would say it’s just barely worth it. So if you want to buy one I suggest going to get one now why they are all on sale. Will I buy it again? Doubtful. I think next time I want to get matchy I’ll splurge for the equestrian Stockholm stuff, and maybe try to get a bonnet that matches my pads I already have.

Hope this helped,

Amelia🐴
