Top Ten -- What books should I read next?
As we get into the habit of isolation and not touching anyone or anything, we mostly just sit on our couch to watch TV. You may not know this, but reading and playing outside is actually better for your health; Coronavirus or no. *Joking, that's a well-known fact, however, most people seem to ignore it*. But back to the point, looking for books is why you came, so let's get started. (PLEASE keep in mind that we have not read all of these books and some of them might be inappropriate or scary; we do not necessarily recommend these books, we just want to give you ideas!)
FAVORITES OF THE POPULATION -
1. The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien - 150 million copies sold
2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone - JK Rowling - 107 million copies sold
3. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe - CS Lewis - 85 million copies sold
4. Charlottes Web - E.B. White - 50 million copies sold
5. Black Beauty (if you appreciate the classics) - Anna Sewell - 50 million copies sold
6. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins - 11.2 million copies sold (although this is by far the best book EVER)
BEST SELLING SERIES -
1. The Harry Potter Series - JK Rowling - 450 million copies sold
2. The Goosebumps series - R.L. Stein - 300 million copies sold
3. The Berenstain Bears - Stan and Jan Berenstain - 260 million copies sold
4. Nancy Drew - Carolyn Keen -200 million copies

8. The Twilight Saga - Stephanie Meyer - 120 million copies sold
9. Clifford the Big Red dog - Norman Bridwell - 110 million copies sold
10. Fifty Shades Trilogy - E.L. James - 100 million copies sold *very inappropriate*have not read*
*You should still read the Hunger Games!
Keep living life random! I hope you found a decent book on this list to keep you satisfied. I recommend looking in the series section, as there are quite a few repeats and you can read a series rather than a single book. I have read most of these and I recommend them all, however, these are Amelia and my favorites:
1. The Hunger Games (as I have mentioned at least 3 times, and a little bird told me that there is going to be another one soon :)
2. Harry Potter
3. The Twilight Saga (Amelia's ABSOLUTE favorite)
4. The Inheritance Cycle
5. The Divergent Series
6. Mrs. Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
So yeah! And, while you may think I am dumb, because duh, the libraries are closed! But this is where technology becomes our friend, not only for communicating but for (most importantly) reading. Also, you can probably find some classics in the attic ;)
I'll leave it at that,
Naomi
Hi all!
Just a little note from Amelia about our favorite books!
The Hunger Games -- I would recommend this for fifth-sixth graders and up, as it might be not super easy for younger readers, and there is some mild violence and death (Naomi here: there is more than a little violence and death, but those parts aren't too bad. Kind of sad, definitely for middle school and up)
Harry Potter -- I would recommend for advanced third graders and up because it can get a little scary at times, but super good. The first couple are not too bad. the movies are also a bit scary though.
The Twilight Saga -- I would say no younger then sixth-seventh grade! There is mild violence, some blood-sucking, but nothing night-marish!
The Inheritance Cycle -- I would recommend this for fairly young, third-fourth grade and up, it is not very scary but is still a real pageturner!
The Divergent Series -- I would recommend this for fifth-sixth graders, nothing super violent or adult
Mrs. Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children -- I would definitely recommend this only for late sixth graders to early seventh-graders; it is fairly scary, but not very violent (Naomi agrees. Maybe even older)
Thanks for reading and hope this helped,
Amelia
