Getting Jobs With Indeed

Image
Hi everyone, recently I’ve been looking for jobs so that I can start making an income and getting job experience. Since this is the digital age, it shouldn’t surprise you that most applications are online. I used the website  Indeed .  It was super nice and user friendly. I could enter in my resume and any skills I had, along with any prior work experience and cover letters. I could save jobs for later or apply to them quickly and easily with just the click of a button. (I don’t live in New York, and I didn’t apply to be a Dental Assistant lol) I could even view any messages I had from possible employers quickly and easily, and respond from my email or the website. All of the jobs had very in-depth job descriptions. I could sort my searches by location, type of job, qualifications, pay, and more.  Overall I 100% recommend Indeed for anyone looking for a first time job or a next job, as it’s totally worth it, free, and easy to use!! Keep living life random, Amelia

She Moved To Texas

Image
Hi everyone, Amelia here today. You might have seen the list of links on our side bar: Well one of those blogs is  She Moved to Texas , a blog about Love, Loss & Horses. I just recently discovered this blog in late March, and since have followed it continuously.  Lauren Mauldin’s blog is so inspiring to equestrians and (ehem) normal people alike. She has a dappled grey gelding named Poet, and you can follow her through the course of their relationship in a journey of joy and pain. This blog has so many stories that make you say ‘Wait a minute, I’m not the only one’, stories that make you laugh, and stories that make you cry.  It’s so inspiring to read about a fellow equestrian that has suffered so much and still finds refuge in the world of horses. Lauren’s blog is so amazing and real that when I finish reading an article I just have to sit for a moment and just say ‘wow’.  I definitely suggest reading  Letter To My Younger Equestrian Self , as it gave...

Inspiring Feminist Poem By A Girl In My Class ‘Tea Bag’

Hi everyone, I’ve already told you about the feminist movement at my school. If you haven’t read it yet, click on this link to read it. I published it yesterday.  A girl in my class wrote this short poem, ‘Tea Bag’. Here it is: Inspiration quote: “ A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water. “ -Eleanor Roosevelt I may not be too strong if I’m in cold water You put me in a boiling cup of hatred That’s when I am most formidable  I will not stop Till my cup is cool Thanks for reading, Amelia

Still I Rise By Maya Angelou

Hi everyone! Lately the girls in my class have been organizing a movement to push back against the sexism in our school. We have a document where we can share poems, quotes, and other inspirational things. On the last day of school, we are all going to wear tank tops (break the dress code) and write inspiring quotes on our hands. I just thought I’d share this spectacular poem by Maya Angelou, ‘Still I Rise’. They shared this excerpt from the poem: You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise. Does my sassiness upset you? Why are you beset with gloom? ’Cause I walk like I've got oil wells Pumping in my living room. Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I'll rise. Here is the entire poem: You may write me down in history With your bitter, twisted lies, You may trod me in the very dirt But still, like dust, I'll rise. Does my sas...

My 30 by 30 Equine Bucket List

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to write my equine bucket list! This is the list of 30 equestrian things I want to do before I turn 30!! As you all have probably guessed, I’m in my early-mid teens, so I have a while! Jump over 3 feet Gallop at absolute top speed across a big field Ride on a track (a race track) even if it’s just at a trot or canter, that sounds like so much fun Canter along the ocean on the beach (a large lake would work, too) Own a horse Lease a horse before I’m 17 Jump bareback Stand up on a moving horse Jump on a horse bareback from the ground Try dressage riding Try full-on gallop barrel racing (you all know I have a need for speed 😂) Train a horse to do something from scratch Introduce my dog to a horse Put a dog on a horse’s back Ride one of the dancing horses Help save a horse (from slaughter, colic, etc) Be able to draw a realistic horse from scratch Race someone on horseback Ride a horse with just a rope and nothing else Compete in a horse show and win some...

‘Standards’ By A Girl In My Class

Hi everyone, I’m back with another feminist poem today. I know that these poems deal with pretty heavy subjects, so if you are feeling like it is too much, feel free to email me and I can talk to you about it. The past few days have been part of this series so please go back and read them if you want to. ‘Standards’  Shut up  Speak up Slim waist Pretty face Big butt Hourglass  Try to be perfect But still were not worth it Doing the most Just to survive Trying our best  Just to stay alive Boys will be boys They can do whatever But the minute we speak up They’ll blame us forever Why can’t girls just be girls Thanks for reading, Amelia

Letting My Keyboard Write Without Me

Hi everyone! I’m sure you’ve all done this before, I sure have. You know, just rapidly clicking the words at the top of the keyboard and seeing what they say? Well today that’s what I’m going to do! Let’s get started and see where the story brings us!! I have an appointment at four and I’m not quite sure how long I can do that but I’m going out of the way to see the new one. Google did it for today I have a few things that you are looking at the picture I think that it was really cool and it looks almost like a gray brown brown sun. The kids are going out of the river and they have made the first choice. Sunny cloudy sunny day Challenge sun sun clouds clouds and they have a problem. The world is a much better place in science and technology. So sorry. Oh! This story is riveting! Let’s continue! The first word is in the north bay. The only one that is a small place for the kids who are actually in the north area. The best part of this game was that I was a very happy person to play...

Google Guesses

Image
Hi! Today, I’m going to be typing random words into Google and seeing if it can guess the word! So first I went to  Random Word Generator  (10/10 recommend, got so many random words!). Then I generated a few words and put ‘em into google one letter at a time! The first word I got was difference. Google guessed this one super quick, only 3 letters! Google didn’t do very well on this one... it was guessing motorcycles and stuff, but it didn’t guess the word for a while. Google did okay here. Not great, but it’s a pretty hard word. Google did pretty well, but then again this was the easiest word! Well I hope you enjoyed the article! Comment with word you would like to be featured on the blog, we’d love to hear from you! -Amelia

You have rock-hard callouses on your ring fingers from the reigns 4. All your profile pictures are of your horse 5.             Hi everyone! Welcome to the 29th day of my 30 Day Challenge!!! We’re almost done!! I was inspired first by Annika, and as always, check out her blog at  https://annikalorriane.blogspot.com/ , and then by Naomi, right here at LLR! Here is the photo of the 30 Day Challenge I will be participating in, so you can be up to date! (I’m writing the 30 Day Challenge on the weekend of 19-22nd of March, BTW. So when I refer to things, they will be based on that time) Okay, let’s get started! Today the prompt is: bullet my whole day Well, since today is a Wednesday, I’ll bullet my Wednesday. Every day is different, so I’ll just do Wednesday. Wake up at 6:30 Get dressed, usually in skinny jeans and a cropped t-shirt or hoodie Listen to NPR while I get dressed Do my hair, normally just into a ponytail because I’m crazy lazy Go upstairs (my room is in the basement) 7:00ish: pour myself a bowl of cereal (usually Captain Crunch) or stick a waffle in the air...

Hi everyone! Welcome to the 28th day of my 30 Day Challenge!!! Today the prompt is: riding discipline I’d like to try Well I’ve tried Western, trotting barrels, trotting pole bending, and English. I really think I’d love to do real, galloping gymkhana. There’s that part of me, that is in every reckless horseback rider, that just wants to go as fast as I can, and just run, run, run! Aside from that reckless bit of me, I really want to jump (which I am eventually going to do on my current training plan). I also really want to try dressage. I’ve ne...

Amelia’s 30 Day Challenge - Day 27

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to the 27th day of my 30 Day Challenge!!! Today the prompt is: Riding goals Well in the next few months, my goal is to find a horse to lease. I want to lease during the summer break so I have more time to get used to the horse. The barn I ride at might buy a horse so me and another rider can each half lease. Either way, I really want to lease. That’s my goal. In the next year, my goal is to be jumping small cross poles at the absolute least. For life, I sort of want to be a lesson trainer who does lessons with kids or a jump...

So when I refer to things, they will be based on that time) Okay, let’s get started! Today the prompt is: First fall off a horse Well, this is a pretty embarrassing story 😂. I had a lot of very close calls before this, but I always go all death grip when the horse spooks, and I’ve never rode a thrower.  So the first time I ever fell off, it was bareback before I started English. The horse was actually at a complete stand still.... now do you get why it’s embarrassing? Well anyway, I was getting on and I was laying on the horse’s back, and when I went to swing m...
